Want to dress up your everyday summer flip flops? Add a gorgeous flower or a bedecking of beads for an instant style upgrade! Just follow these easy DIY instructions for two kinds of custom flip-flops, from Myjellybean.com.
Tip: You can often find inexpensive flip-flops at dollar stores and drugstores.
-Flip-flops
-2 large silk flowers (available at florist and craft stores)
-Wire cutters or strong scissors
-Strong-hold glue
Clip a fabric flower off its stem. If the layers of the flower come apart (because the stem is no longer holding it together), use your glue to fix them back into place. Just squeeze a small amount of glue at the base of the flower, between each layer of petals as needed, pressing to make the glue adhere.
Put a good-sized blob of glue ample on the back of the flower and press it firmly onto the flip-flop thong. Repeat this process for the other flip-flop. Allow glue to dry totally before wearing.
-Flip-flops
-Large beads
-Scissors
-Nylon or knitting thread
-Tapestry needle*
*(A tapestry needle has a blunt tip and a large oval-shaped eye - find it, and the thread needed, at a fabric or craft store)
Thread your tapestry needle with a long length of thread. Tie off the end of the thread with a double-knot.
Push the needle up through the outside end of one of the flip-flop straps. Load all the beads for the strap onto the thread.
Push the needle back down through the strap, at the other end. Pull the thread all the way through, taking up the slack, so the beads sit firmly on top of the strap. Tie a double-knot at the end and clip the thread. Repeat this process for the other straps.
