DECOUPAGE FLOWER POT
This cute flowerpot craft is totally mom-friendly! Make it yourself or with your sister, and give it to your mom for Mother's Day. You can even fill it with mom's favorite flowers. Then hand it over on the big day and get ready for waterworks.
What You'll Need:
-A terracotta pot
-Mod Podge glue (available at craft stores everywhere)
-Cute photos, pictures from magazines, fabric swatches, empty seed packets, sunflower seeds (use your imagination!)
-A paintbrush
Step One:
Cut out all the pictures and other decorative items you want to attach to the flowerpot. Lay them out in a single layer on your work table, so you can see everything you've got to use.
Step Two:
Glue all the pieces to the flower pot using the Mod Podge. Take your time to apply them in a pattern or arrangement that you like. Tip: It usually looks best if all the pieces overlap a little. Be careful to press everything nice and flat.
Step Three:
Once everything is stuck to the pot, use your paintbrush to apply a few coats of the Mod Podge over the entire surface of the flowerpot. Let the pot dry completely (have patience!) and then paint another coat of Mod Podge over the whole pot.
AROMATHERAPY SACHETS
This sweet-smelling craft makes a thoughtful Mother's Day gift. Write a note in her card to say, "I wanted to give you something that's as sweet as you are." Aw, mommy's little angel!
What You'll Need:
-Squares of pretty fabric (use lace, gauzy fabric, cotton, satin or whatever's available)
-Ribbon
-Cotton balls
-Various essential oils in yummy scents, such as lavender and vanilla (available at health food shops and stores like The Body Shop)
-Fabric flowers or buttons (optional)
Step One:
Carefully pour a few drops of essential oil (one scent only per sachet) on the cotton balls.
Step Two:
Wrap each cotton ball in a piece of cloth and tie it closed with a piece of ribbon.
Step Three:Repeat with different essential oils, if you like, to make a variety of sachets.
Step Four:
Your sachets are good to go. But if they're a gift and you want them to look fancy, sew on a fabric flower or a few cute buttons to each one, for that extra something. You could also attach a little label to each one that says what scent it is.
