HIDE YOUR ZITS

Got pimples, and the first day of school is right around the corner? You can treat them later... right now, you need to camouflage them! Myjellybean.com shares tricks for hiding breakouts so you can look flawless.

Less Is More

Too much concealer can look worse than none at all. Your approach should be to apply as little as possible, to accomplish your goal, following the steps outlined below. Want the most realistic results? Apply your zit-hiding makeup in natural light (such as in front of a mirror that's beside a window).

The Best Concealer Application Method

Here's the most effective way to hide a zit, direct from a Hollywood makeup artist: Apply a tiny dab of toner to each individual zit to dry up any excess oil in the area. This will prevent the concealer from sticking and getting mucky. Next, apply your foundation as normal. Finally apply a concealer in exactly the same shade as your foundation (ideally a medicated concealer product like Clarins Concealer Plus Corrector) directly onto each zit. Blend this outwards from the zit using a clean finger or a makeup brush (not touching the area that needs full coverage), then apply powder as normal.

Hang Zits Out To Dry

To help dry out a zit quicker, use a specific zit concealer with anti-bacterial ingredients. Try The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Cover Stick or Clinique Acne Solutions Concealing Stick. However, don't apply straight from the tube/stick or you risk infecting the product (and re-infecting yourself when you use it again). Place some product on the back of your hand instead, then apply to the zit with a Q-tip, which you can throw away when you're finished.

Get The Order Right

If you wear foundation, always apply concealer over blemishes afterwards, not before. Too much makeup on the skin makes you look tired out and fake. Also, by putting concealer on after foundation, you only use what you need and so use a lot less.

If you don't wear foundation, you'll get a more flawless, but natural-looking, finish if you use a tiny bit of concealer on a brush just to paint out minor blemishes or marks.

Get The Red Out

If a zit is red and angry-looking, add a tiny bit of green concealer first to take down the redness - but not too much or else it will look grey. Dab a small bit of covering concealer on top, then dust over a little translucent powder.

Don't Pick!

The most common mistake girls make is picking the zit first to make it smaller. This may seem like a good idea, but it's not! Concealer will not stick to the skin if it is wet, so all that picking does is create a sticky, crusty blob. Instead, put the concealer on the zit but don't rub it in (as this actually wipes off most of the coverage).
