GO CURLY OR STRAIGHT
You want great hair for back-to-school, right? Who knows why, but for many of us, that means changing our natural look. It seems to be always the same old story when it comes to hair: Girls with curls long for sleek, straight locks, while straight-haired chicks dig waves and spirals. Follow these Myjellybean.com tips for making your straight hair curly, or your curly hair straight.
GOING FROM STRAIGHT TO CURLY:
Step 1: Work a small amount of mousse or lightweight gel (not too much or you'll get sticky locks) through damp, towel-dried hair.
Step 2: Blow-dry hair upside down, scrunching it with your hands.
Step 3: When the roots of your hair are dry, flip your head back and divide hair into about 8 to 10 sections. Twist each section around your finger, and pin it to your head with a bobby pin or hair clip.
Step 4: Blow dry the pinned curls with the blow-dryer on low heat, until they are dry. Spray pinned curls with hairspray or setting lotion (this prevents frizzies and static). Leave pins in for 5 more minutes.
Step 5: Remove the pins from hair and loosen the sections with your fingers.
Step 6: Blast your hair for a few seconds with cold-air from your dryer to help lock in the curls.
GOING FROM CURLY TO STRAIGHT:
Step 1: Towel-dry hair until it is about halfway-dry. Apply a glob of straightening balm from the roots to the ends (use enough to cover all your hair, about a tablespoon), and comb it though hair to distribute it evenly.
Step 2: Pull your hair tightly back, as if you were going to put it in a ponytail. Hold it like that with one hand (or clip it back if you want) while using your hair-dryer on high heat to dry the hair that's flat against your head.
Step 3: Once that hair is mostly dry, blow-dry it section by section, from top to bottom, using a large round brush. Hold the brush on top of the section and follow it closely with the hair dryer.
Step 4: Finish with a final blast of cold air from your dryer and add gloss with a coat of shine spray.
