Dear Jellybean,
My family is so narrow minded. Especially my mum. She is so racist, it's embarrasing. I have many dark skinned friends but I avoid inviting them to my house in case my mum says something offensive.
She's always going on about how 'foreignors don't belong in our country' and how different religions, like hinduism, is 'disgusting' I just cannot believe I am related to her.
My dad is the same but not as bad. See, both our next door neighbours are from Thailand and I'm really good friends with them both but my mum's constantly putting them down and being really rude (fortunately behind there backs)
And my sister is a big homophobic. whenever she sees lesbians or gays on tv she'll be like 'oh that's so disgusting, why can't people be normal' i'm just like :0 !? Because, although she doesn't know it, I've had a few lesbian moments. my sister is also judgmental of self harmers. she says that they are really weird and no one should be friends with them or even talk to them! we all have problems, some people just deal with theirs differently.
This is all upsetting for me because I have friends of all different skin colours, ethnic groups, religions and sexual orientations. All my friends say I'm open minded so I don't really understand how I can be related to ANY of my family and now I know they won't accept me or my friends.
