Dear Jellybean,
Hi, I'm a senior this year and I play tennis on my school team and it's very important to me. I worked extremely hard on my game last summer and earned a position as the number two player.
This summer, I seriously didn't do anything except play tennis, I worked harder at it than I've ever worked at anything else.
My problem is that this sophomore girl who I'm far better than keeps beating me in my challenge matches. The reason I lose is because I get so incredibly nervous that I can't even play the way I know I can. I know that if I just stayed cool in my head, I could easily beat her, but I get so worked up that it becomes impossible to do. I get so freaked out about it that I cry while I'm playing.
This is my senior year, so of course I want to be in the highest position I feel I deserve. Losing to this girl is really terrible for my self-esteem. my coach is letting me challenge her again in a few days, so I just need to be able to handle myself by then.
Hannah, age 17
