Dear Jellybean,
My whole life I've loved to sing, I have really old home videos of me singing karaoke at my parent's Christmas parties when I was only 3, and just forever I've always wanted to be a good singer.
At the beginning of the summer I got up the nerve to sign up for vocal training, and the two teacher's I've had said I'm really good. Once I get up in front of people my nerves just melt away and I can go full out. But I've never really wanted to do anything with my voice, just knowing I was ok was enough for me, until the other day when my friends and I went to an Avril Lavigne concert, and I realized that that's what I want to do, be up on that stage singing my heart out to a crowd of people who want to hear me. The thing is I live in a tiny town, and I'm not sure how I'd even start to try to break into the music industry. I live in Canada, so I thought maybe I'd just try out for Canadian Idol next year when I'll be 16 and old enough, but then I realized that most of the people on that show dont' really make it "that" big, not like I want to be. What can I do to try to get into the music scene living in such a small town, and do you have any suggestions of how I could start performing locally to boost my confidence level a bit? Thanks so much.
-Becca
