CREATE A FRIENDSHIP BOOK

Creating a friendship book is a very special thing you can do for a friend. It’s about creating something from scratch that preserves special times spent with treasured people.

Just imagine, someday you and your friend can look back on the friendship book you made and remember all of those amazing moments you shared together! It's a perfect project to make for a friend’s birthday, the end of the school year, or just because you feel like it. Follow these tips from Myjellybean.com for creating a friendship book.

The Book.

Buy a blank scrapbook or get special scrapbook pages and a scrapbook binder. You can find these at large bookstores and at many crafting stores.

Dedicated To...

Make the first page a dedication page. Write a dedication to the friend or friends who you’re making the book for.

Souvenir Hunt.

Sort through photographs, notes, letters, postcards, movie and concert ticket stubs, amusement park passes, ads, souvenirs, cards, quotes, magazine pictures and other items that remind you of your friend(s).

Collage Art.

Use the items to create interesting collages on the pages. Secure them with tape or glue.

Personalize It.

Add handwritten or typed words on each page, or under each memento in the scrapbook. Examples: "Our Favorite Hangout" and "Our all-time favorite hottie" and "Remember when we had to leave this mall ‘cause we were laughing so hard?." Use phrases that have inside meanings to the two of you, to make it special.

Freeze Frame.

Frame photos with colored paper or tinfoil to dress them up. Add decorations such as sparkles and paper shapes or designs.

Get Friends Involved.

Ask your friend(s) to write a description of her/his favorite time spent with you and include the description in the book. Or, ask other friends to write up a paragraph about why your friend is so special. When she opens her book, she'll get to read all the nice things people said about her!

The Writer in You.

Write a special poem or story about why you love your friend, and include that too. Dress it up with little doodles, heart stickers and anything else you can think of to make it stand out and look cute.

Section City.

If you’re doing a book for a group of friends, devote part of the book to making special sections or one page about each person. Make a special cover for each friend's section in the book by drawing or creating an illustration of his or her name, or using a photo and drawing a colorful title and dedication with markers or colored pencils.

The Cover.

Design a cover for the book and call it "Best Friends Forever", "Aly and Anna Rock", "The Party Girl Memoirs" or some other title that has meaning to you.
