Dear Jellybean,

There are these really jerky guys at my school who love to make me embarrassed and stuff. Like they will ask me out just as a joke to make their friends laugh or talk to me about my family while snorting to their friends as if I don't know whats going on. It is really annoying and makes me feel stupid in front of a lot of people. Please help?

-Being Pranked

Dear Being Pranked,

What idiots. You don't have to put up with that garbage - and you shouldn't. Those guys are being jerks to you, because they are gorillas, and they think they are getting away it. What you have to do is, buck up your courage and show them that you are not going take this treatment quietly any more.

Next time it happens, look the idiot-in-question straight in the eye, and say, "Why are you so obsessed with me? Go get a life and stop hassling me." If they laugh at you or say something mean, just say, "Seriously, you are pathetic. You had better stop bugging me, or my next stop is the principal's office."

The trick to making this work is to speak loudly and seriously, and maintain eye contact. Talk like you mean what you are saying! If you embarrass them in front of their friends, they will be a lot less likely to pick on you in the future.

A final caution: If at any time a guy makes you feel unsafe, or physically threatened in any way, do walk straight to the principal's office without pause. You have a right to attend school without being harrassed, and the school has a legal obligation to protects its students from harrassment. So if tough words don't work, and you feel threatened, take the problem to the school office, and ask them to deal with it.
