Dear Jellybean,
I'm thirteen and I have a boyfriend. He wants to go on a date but my parents say I can't date until I'm 16! All my friends go on dates to like the movies but my parents are being IMPOSSIBLE. They said a group date might be ok and I told my boyfriend that and he keeps asking me about it, but my parents don't want to even talk about it NOW, and I'm afraid he'll break up with me. (this is my first boyfriend so i don't know) I know that sounds dumb but I just don't know! My boyfriend keeps asking me, my parents don't want to discuss it! My parents say they have to much going on to worry about some boy! This has been going on for a couple of days and he (My boyfriend) seems patient about it but...I'm afraid he'll just get fed up and dump me! What do I do?

Dear Confused,
A group date is a great idea. To increase the chances that your parents will let it happen, ask if you can stage the get-together at your house. Ask your mom and dad if you can invite some people over to your place on a specific date (so they can't get vague), say, a week from this Saturday. Just say you want to have a few guys and girls over to eat pizza and watch a movie (dont' call it a "date"), and give them some specifics about who will be coming. Since your folks will be around to pop into the room and spy on you, if they want (and you know they do!), they're more likely to feel comfortable with this arrangement. Hope it works out for you - good luck!
And as for your boyfriend, this is actually a good test of his loyalties. If he gets fed up and dumps you after a few days or a week of this, he never really cared enough for you to begin with. Any guy who's worth your time and affection will stick by you through much more trouble than that.
