I'm bi-sexual. One of my best friends is also bi and I'm starting to fall for her. My other best friend, on the other hand is grossed out by this. Every time I talk to my bi friend, she thinks that I'm faking it and that I'm really straight, but acting bi. I want to tell her that I'm really bi, but she wont believe me and she keeps saying that I'm "freaking her out" every time I talk about it. What should I do?

-Confused

If you're freaking out your friend, stop it. That may actually be her way of telling you, "I'm not interested in you that way." I think whether it's a girl or a guy you like, once the person tells you that your behavior is freaking them out, that's definitely the time to pull back and focus your attentions elsewhere, if only to protect your own feelings.

As for your friend who is grossed out, it's sad that she is so small-minded about love and attraction. Maybe you two don't have enough in common to really be friends, or maybe she just hasn't been exposed to anyone different than her, and has the potential to grow and become more accepting. It's up to you whether to give her the chance.

You could try talking to your friend about how people of different sexualities are all the same, just like people of different religions or races. It may even help to watch a movie together, that touches on the subject, to get the conversation started. But don't push her too hard, or give her lectures - you're a friend, not a teacher. Follow your instincts about whether she is someone who accepts you for you - and if she doesn't, then realize she is not really someone with whom you will have a satisfying or lasting friendship.
