| Tell Friend She Can't Sing? |

Dear Friend,
Oh no you don't! LIfe is harsh, but friends shouldn't be. Your friend loves to sing, so let her be. If she's really that bad, she will get turned down for the show, and then you can be there to comfort her. But if you tell her that she can't sing beforehand, in hopes of trying to "save" her from rejection (you can't), she will probably not believe you (she thinks she is good, and she might accuse you of being jealous or mean). Then you'll get in a fight, and maybe stop being friends, and she won't have you to cheer her up after she doesn't make the play.
Just grin and bear it when your friend sings. If you're feeling guilty about lying when you tell her she's "good", just alter what you're saying but keep it supportive. Try saying, "I really admire how hard you're working on your singing" or "You sing with so much emotion". And when she doesn't get cast in the play, you can say, "They're idiots not to cast you" and let her lean on you for comfort. That's what friends are for.
