Dear Jellybean,

I am very worried about my friends. Okay so here's the story... at the beginning of this week (Monday), my friends were talking at lunchtime about plans that they had for this weekend... which happens to be today. Anyway, they wouldn't tell me what the plans were until I asked them about 10 times (not exaggerating), and then one girl said to me "It's this show that my mother is taking us to. We didn't want to tell you because there wasn't enough tickets for you and we bought them while you weren't with us." So I said "Okay, that's fine, no big deal. You guys have fun! What show is it?" ...And they didn't give me an answer, again. So obviously I knew something was up. So it was the next day, Tuesday, that the same girl who told me about the "show" said to me "Okay so we're not actually going to a show on Saturday. We didn't want to tell you because we knew you'd be mad but we're going to smoke pot on Saturday." Okay... needless to say I freaked out. I am very opposed to drinking, smoking, and drugs. But at least drinking is legal come a certain age.. (just to give you an idea of age, we are in grade 12). But marijuana is illegal... for a reason - it's very dangerous. I thought my friends knew that. Even my closest friend in the group said to me that she would never want to try pot, she already knew it was stupid... yet she has changed her mind and is going to do it (not today, but next month).

I just don't know what to do. Honestly I think I'm a bit more angry about the fact that they lied to me in the first place. Either way I would be angry, yeah, but lying to me about it makes me trust them less. They don't seem apologetic at all about lying. I do not know how to treat the situation. Do I stand in their way? Do I let them make their own mistakes? Do I give them the cold shoulder? Do I be there for them if something goes wrong even though it's their fault? Please help, Jellybean! Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Amz
