Brown is a natural, warm and neutral colour. It represents wholesomeness and earthiness, and is found extensively in nature, in earth, wood, and stone. Like the sign of Capricorn, brown is known as being practical, stubborn, and conscientious.

While brown might be considered a little on the dull side, it is misunderstood, much like Capricorn. That's because this subdued color also represents simplicity, friendliness, dependability, and health - all qualities that are essential to a happy life.

The color brown (and lighter shades, such as beige or tan) make excellent background colors.
