MOM SAYS NO MOVIES WITH GUY FRIENDS

Dear Jellybean,

How I can I get my mom to let me go the movie theater with my guy friends? Its because everytime I tell that one of my guy friends invited me to go to the movies, she says that she HAS to go with me? Please tell me what to do.

Dear Princess,

If your mom is set on being a chaperone, there's probably not much you can do. As embarrassing as it sounds, why not let her come along on one or two movie dates? If you're lucky, she'll agree to sit a few rows behind you (not right beside your guy friend!). Once she sees that nothing much is going on, there's a chance she will loosen up, and let you go alone to future movies with guy friends. (Hint - if you pick movies your mom will hate - like "Transformers" or whatever - she'll probably give up on accompanying you all the sooner!)
