BEDROOM THEME WITH A PINK CARPET

Dear Jellybean,

I have hot pink carpeting in my room and it makes it impossibly hard to do funky themes. I’d really like to do something with classic rock or classic Hollywood or even like some café. (You get my drift). Advice?

You could totally rock a classic Hollywood theme with a hot pink carpet. Check out the Hollywood Glamour Bedroom Theme (click here) on this site for step-by-step instructions on creating L.A.-licious decor. I think your carpet color would fit in very well.

Hot pink carpeting could also be cool for a café-themed bedroom, especially if you do a "Café in Paris" theme! Keep the wall color soft (think baby pink, or off-white) and put up posters of Paris, the Eiffel tower, coffee shop photos, illustrated cups of coffee, etc. Put up a bulletin board with postcards of Paris, or write French words on a large chalkboard and hang it over your bed.

Browse thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales to find little round café-style tables to use as bedside tables. You can also use a round bistro table as a desk, complete with a café-style chair.

Small throw rugs in nubble white fabric or sheepskin will add Parisian flair, and stand out on your pink carpeting. Every café needs cool lighting, so check out the hardware store or your local Ikea for interesting wall sconces.
