OLDER SISTERS ARE PERFECT

Dear Jellybean,

I have two older sisters and they are perfect. They are skinny and active. I'm not. They also have boyfriends and like the second they are single they have someone asking them out. I ask them how they do that and keep fit but they say they don't know how they do it. Sometimes i just... i just wish i was just like them. How do i deal?

Dear Sad Court,

Wishing you were like someone else, is all about wishing you had the good things they had. So instead of trying to become them, be you - but go for what you're wishing for!

For instance, you wish you were skinny and active. You can't necessarily change your body type, if you're not naturally rail-like, but you can certainly increase your activity level. All it takes is standing up, and moving. There are hundreds of great activities that you can do to get in better cardiovascular shape, so pick one! You could hike, bike, run, walk, go roller blading, do karate or kickboxing, take a dance class, and so on... the choices are almost endless.

As for getting a boyfriend, your sisters are older, so give it time. You're sure to meet people you want to date as you get older too. Just don't rush it. You know that quote from the Spiderman movies, "With great power comes great responsibility"? Well with boyfriends, comes responsibility too. Once you're dating someone, you usually end up with way more to think about, from how to balance your relationship with seeing your friends and getting schoolwork done, to dealing with issues of getting physical with someone, to just always wanting your hair and makeup to look perfect. Trust me, it's a lot of work, and not worth doing for someone who's not ideal. So enjoy the freedom you have now, and trust in the universe to send a boyfriend your way when you're ready for it.

Finally, believe in the power of genetics. You have two sisters, and they're both fit and have boyfriends. Chances are, when you're their age, you will too! Try to believe in that, and be the best "you" that you can be right now.
