Dear Jellybean,
I'm going to redecorate my room soon. Last time my room was done, my mom did all the decorating and it shows. I want my room to reflect my personality. Any advice on how to do that?

Dear DB,
Personally, I think the hardest part of redecorating a room is deciding on the theme. Your room should reflect your personality, so it's worth putting lots of thought into what that should mean. Think about the following questions, to help you figure out what theme, colors, decorations, or "mood" your bedroom should have, to reflect your personality.
What is my favorite outdoor location, vacation spot, or building? (Did you think of the beach, the mountains, or a cozy bed and breakfast? What is it about your favorite spot that you like so much - is it the color, the mood, the style? How might you create this feeling in your room?)
What is my favorite color? (If one doesn't come to mind immediately, think about what color shows up most in your wardrobe, the colors in the place where you like hanging out most, or what colors make you feel peaceful and happy)
How would my friends describe me, in one word? (Happy? Emo? Intense? Mellow? How can you recreate this feeling in your bedroom?)
What's my favorite kind of music? (Rock? Jazz? Country? If music is important to you, how can you mix this feeling into your decorating scheme?)
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be? (Mia from the Princess Diaries? Susan from the Chronicles of Narnia? Think about why your fave character is so appealing to you, and consider how that might inspire your room theme).
