Dear Jellybean,
I want to learn how to dance well. I love music and I love to sing but I want to dance better. My sister can listen to a song and just make up moves on the spot and look good, when I do it it looks horrible. I have thought about taking dance but I don't want to embarrass my self in front of people. Please help.

Dear Two left feet,
Do you and your sister get along? Because it sounds like she could be a great dance coach. Approach her when she's in a good mood, and ask her if she'd be into teaching you some of her moves. Explain that you envy her ability to make up moves to any old song, and tell her you'd love to learn how. With any luck, you'll get tips that will make you a better dancer, and you'll get some nice bonding time with your sis, as a bonus.
If that's not an option, don't worry, you don't have to sign up for a public class. Instead, learn the way that so many other kids learn how to dance - practice your moves in front of the TV! Turn on your favorite music video channel, watch how the singers perform in their videos, and try to copy their moves. When you think you're picking up some technique, blast music in your room (wear headphones if loud noises bug your folks), and practice dancing in front of a mirror. This will help you learn how to move your body, and also build your confidence. That's really important, because looking good on the dance floor is, in large part, about believing that you look good.
