ASKING HIM OUT DISASTERS

Dear Jellybean,

Hi, I need help! I like a guy. I met him in my drama class and he is also in p.e and band. But I do not have the courage to ask him out! I have had two times were I freaked out when I was about to ask him out. And onece, the earthquake drill came on and I mouthed it to him.... That was a bust!!! He diddent see.. :( But I guess that was easy to do cuz I knew it would not work in the back of my head... well, I really like him!!

You admit that you're actually picking times - and strategies - for asking out your crush, that you know aren't really going to work. It's totally normal that you're nervous about this, but there's no point in putting yourself through all this stress, if he isn't even going to hear your question.

This is one of those situations where I think a friend could help. Maybe you could get a friend to ask your crush if he likes you. She could drop hints about you liking him, too. For instance, she could ask what he'd do if you asked him out.

The other thing you can do is, show him you like him in other ways, and hope he gets the hint and asks you out. Sometimes just paying a guy more attention and hanging out with him is a better way to get your point across. If you go this way, just focus on trying to become better buddies with your crush. Start a conversation about a band, a new TV show, or whatever and really get to know him as a friend. After you get to know each other better, then you can talk to him about what he thinks of you.
