Dear Jellybean,
Me and my best friend (let's call him John) met last year and became fast friends. (This is NOT about dating, since we've both joked about what we'd rather do than date each other. it includes burning limbs and sticking pins into eyeballs.)
John and I are both very stubborn and always need to be right in arguments. This causes long and drawn out quarrels and fights about the smallest things. Both of us end up getting hurt and saying things we really don't mean. Neither one will back down, and neither one wants to admit fault.
I love John and always feel terrible when I hurt him, and I know he'd rather not lose me. I fear that this may get worse and worse until we can't stay friends, because a short while ago, we got into a really heated argument, and we both got really mad. He got so upset with me as to say that his prime mistake was ever meeting me. He apologized, but he has a knack for not getting very heartfelt about ANYTHING and avoiding the big point.
PLEASE help me, I'd really feel awful if I lost him.
