Dear Jellybean,
Hi, I just have a quick question about moisturizers. I'm always reading about how important they are, and how we should use one that won't clog our pores, but I can never find a good one! Can you tell me where I can find a one that won't make my face feel greasy (I already tried Olay and I hated it because a few hours later my face would feel nasty) that's not too expensive?
Thanks alot!
Clogged, dry, unhappy pores
Dear Clogged,
All skin types can benefit from moisturizing. However, if your face feels "nasty" after a few hours of wearing moisturizer, you probably have quite oily skin. In that case, you might not need to wear moisturizer every day. My suggestion is, only use moisturizer on your face when it feels "tight" after washing or toning.
When you do use a moisturizer, you need to select a product that is made for your skin type. Olay is made for older skin, which tends to be drier. You should be looking for a product that is oil-free and non-comedogenic (meaning, it doesn't clog pores). You might have to try a few products before you find the perfect one for you, but I do hear good things about Biore Shine Control Moisturizer and Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer, both of which can be found at the drugstore and are fairly inexpensive.
Also keep in mind that how you cleanse the skin really matters. Not cleansing enough can make oily skin worse - but so can over-cleansing, believe it or not. Get the facts, and more tips on keeping your skin looking its best, in the Myjellybean.com article Fight Oily Skin.
