Dear Lauren,

You may have some split ends at the top of your hair, caused by heat damage from the summer sun or hot styling products (hot rollers, blow driers, curling irons, etc). If so, the way to deal with them is after your hair is dry. Smooth on some hair wax - I personally like Down Under Naturals Sculpting Putty, but there are many options at the drugstore. Rub the product a little between your palms, to "emulsify" (melt) it a bit, then smooth it over your hair from the very top, downwards. You can also put a bit extra on your fingertips and glide them over areas where you want to create piece-y definition and eliminate flyaways. This will flatten flyaways and hold them in place, at least for a few hours.

Each time that you shampoo, be sure to condition hair too. The better conditioned your hair is, the less likely you are to get the frizzies.

If you live in a humid environment, that may be aggravating your frizzy top-hairs too. In that case, after hair is totally dry, smooth on an "anti-humectant" product that keeps hair sealed against damp air. Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade is a great one to try. Apply it just like I said to apply the wax.
