Dear Jellybean,
I recently got my hair cut short (very similar to that of scrubs star Sarah Chalke when she gets it cut on the show) and I absolutely love it, the only problem is with prom coming up I'm having trouble finding anything special to do with it. I am blonde and have naturally curly hair, and wear it to school both straight and curly, so neither just curling it nor leaving it straight realy feels special enough for prom night. I am wearing a gorgeous one shoulder gown by la femme (its a deep teal), and am completely at a loss at what to do with my hair to go with it! Any help I could get with ideas would be amazing, I considered a tiara or a jeweled headband but that really doesn't fit the slightly edgy feel of my dress, or my style. Please help with my dilema, I have searched the internet for weeks, and still can't come up with anything!
thanks in advance

Dear Desperate,
If you want an edgy but totally fashion look, choose a black accessory for your hair. Teal-and-black is a combo that screams sophistication and edge, and has been used by fashionistas since the 1920's. It's a bit unusual, especially when the black adorns blonde hair, so gives your look a certain edge that other accessories may lack.
I'm thinking that a black feather headband, such as this one or this one would look totally awesome on you. You could also create your own feathered headband on the cheap - just pick up a black satin headband at an accessories shop, get some black (and maybe teal too) feathers at a craft shop, and glue away.
Or steal a page from Cameron Diaz's fashion lookbook, by wearing a glittery (faux) rhinestone necklace, or vintage-looking brooch, as a hair accessory. Wrap two sparkly necklaces around pigtail buns, make your hair all teased and bird-nesty and pin a brooch or two in there, or use one glittery necklace as a headband over your straight or curly style.
